About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Bwydydd Oren Foods as a General Manager.
The General Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing all aspects of our daily operations to ensure alignment with the company's strategic vision. You will work closely with the Managing Director to achieve operational excellence, drive business growth, and prepare for future leadership opportunities within the organisation.
Your Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
- Lead and manage all aspects of daily operations, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Oversee recruitment, training, development, and performance management of staff at all levels.
Operational Excellence
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness, working with the Operations team to ensure that the organisation achieves its strategic goals and delivers high-quality products or services.
- Collaborate with the Finance Manager to manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure accurate payroll data.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Communication and Coordination
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Lead organisational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to operations.
Strategic Planning and Development
- Work with the Managing Director to develop and execute strategies for business growth and expansion.
- Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and drive continuous improvement.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Work alongside the HR/H&S Manager to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures.
- Keep abreast of industry regulations and standards, ensuring the company remains compliant with all legal requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Develop and implement succession plans to ensure continuity in key leadership roles.
- Commit to ongoing personal and professional development, staying current with industry trends and best practices.
- Foster a positive and collaborative company culture, promoting teamwork and a shared vision for success.
What you bring
- Minimum 2 years of senior management experience in a similar role/organisation, with at least 5 years overall senior experience in leadership and operational management.
- A strong business acumen and ability to look at the data metrics to make informed decisions
- Proven ability to manage training, risk assessments, and standard operating procedures.
- A track record of successful people management, including recruitment and performance management.
- Innovative problem-solving skills with a focus on improving productivity.
- Strong organisational, strategic planning, and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in business management software and tools.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, financial forecasting, and complex projects.
- An understanding of the importance of the Welsh language within the business.
- The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role.
Location
The role is primarily office-based in Penrhyndeudraeth, Gwynedd, with standard working hours from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. There may be occasional requirements to work on Saturdays and outside of standard hours to meet business needs.
