The Category /Account Manager will manage and develop key retail accounts, drive business growth through effective account management, and provide strategic insight to maximise category growth. The role requires an individual with strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, as well as a deep understanding of the retail industry.

Description
- Develop and execute daily business plans, leveraging diverse solutions to maximise profits and minimise costs
- Identify, manage, and deliver profitable solutions to commercial, operational, and seasonal challenges
- Implement the internal annual operating plan, driving sales, profitability, and operational targets in collaboration with the customer.
- Develop recommendations to contribute to the trading and category vision
- Support the delivery of high-level plans, contractual commitments, joint business plans (JBP), and overall business objectives
- Influence cross-functional teams and represent customer needs internally.
- Contribute to CDP alignment and range builds (e.g., Retail Merchandising, Customer Operations, Product, Marketing)
- Lead weekly alignment meetings, post-implementation reviews, and update meetings with the support of the wider team
- Provide strategic insight to maximise category growth.
- Analyse market trends and customer data to inform business decisions.
- Lead negotiations on pricing, terms and conditions.
- Ensure all account activities comply with company policies and standards.
Profile
- Previous experience in a B2C trading environment, skilled across new business and business development
- Proven experience in working with UK convenience retailers and a successful track record of deliverables
- You're a skilled, natural negotiator and story teller, leading customers and stakeholders through the journey with you
- An ability to work accurately with numbers and data, evident in their interpretation and use when influencing your customer and stakeholders
- Excellent working knowledge of the grocery retail market, alongside macro and micro influences impacting it
- You're adept at relationship management and have great communication skills, which you are able to flex with your varied customer/ stakeholders as necessary
- A high level of commercial acumen, skilled with numbers and excellent attention to detail
- Be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and making educated, speedy decisions with incomplete information
- You are comfortable and confident working with Excel, PowerPoint and other relevant software and systems
- Proven experience in managing key accounts within the convenience/ FMCG categories.
- Ability to identify and capitalise on business opportunities and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
