Job Details
We are currently recruiting for a Retail and Consumer Insight Manager within the Retail and Consumer Insight team on either a full time or part time basis (minimum 21 hours per week). We work on a hybrid basis, which requires 2/3 days based from our HQ in Coventry and the remainder working from home.
Our team work collaboratively across the industry to understand shifts in consumer behaviour and attitudes to inform business decisions by bringing together evidence and data in an easy-to-use format. We analyse data and information from a range of sources and commissions tailored market research in order to understand consumer and retail food trends. We work with multiple data providers including Kantar Worldpanel, Neilsen, YouGov, IGD, Mintel and Euromonitor. Our analysis feeds into the wider Economic and Analysis Department within AHDB.
In the role you will review consumer purchase habits, monitor attitudes/behaviour and investigate consumer, retail and foodservice opportunities across AHDB sector divisions. The role provides an opportunity to work on a range of projects, often to identify key retail sales trends and motivations for consumption and work closely with colleagues in our marketing and exports teams.
We are looking for someone with experience of analysing and interpreting data, with an interest in consumer food trends and making a difference for our levy payers. The ideal candidate will also have experience in writing and/or contributing to thought leadership pieces, including online articles/reports and presentations. The role also requires presenting to a wide range of people and organisations the consumer and retail knowledge base of AHDB.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and disseminate analysis, interpretation and commentary relating to retail and consumer insight, using attitudinal and consumption data from multiple sources
- Prepare research briefs and other procurement document, selecting external agencies through invitations to tender, managing the projects
- Instigate and maintain significant contact with internal and external stakeholders and regularly perform presentations to levy payers and other interested parties
- Lead on detailed research on specific topic areas where required, producing written outputs with key messages clearly and effectively communicated
- Maintain close contact with industry, academics, government and media to ensure information remains relevant and is effectively disseminated
Essential criteria
- Qualified to at least degree standard in Economics/Agriculture/Marketing or another numerate discipline, or equivalent experience
- Experience of managing qualitative and quantitative research projects
- Understanding of consumer trends and purchasing habits
- Understanding of retail grocery markets and the foodservice sector
- Strong experience of preparing and delivering economic/market analysis
- Experienced using modern IT applications to include Excel, Powerpoint and ideally Power BI, although not essential
- Excellent planning and organising and project management skills
