General Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, confident, and tenacious Business Development Manager to join our rapidly expanding FMCG brand. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the commercial growth strategy for a portfolio of major retail accounts. Your key tasks will include expanding distribution, increasing SKU count per customer, securing sales-driving agreements, and ensuring the execution of all customer agreements.

The Ideal candidate will have experience in a commercially driven role or within an FMCG environment. As a Business Development Manager, you should excel at building strong business relationships and possess effective communication and influencing skills. You will take a highly commercial approach to product costing, account planning, margin management, and terms negotiation. Additionally, you should be skilled in data analysis, report creation, and presenting ideas and solutions in a creative and engaging manner.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Main point of contact for agreed accounts, developing and maintaining effective relationships with the customer at all levels specifically with the relevant Category Buyer and cross functionally.
  • Accurate forecasting across the portfolio i.e. cost price and volume.
  • Identify new business opportunities across the portfolio of accounts and as to agreed new business targets;
  • Maximise generation of profitable sales and achieve budgeted sales and profit.
  • Build and enhance relationships with new clients to achieve value and profitability growth from sales across the UK and Europe.
  • Identify and develop profitable new leads, prospective clients, market and business opportunities;
  • Maintain and grow excellent customer relationships;
  • Identify and secure new opportunities for growth within existing accounts;
  • Manage pricing and promotions with customers according to budgets;
  • Continuously review customer visit cycles, maximise efficiency of visits made, to develop new accounts.
  • Complete competitor analysis and benchmarking on an ongoing basis
  • Actively manage and lead the growth of ranges to include other lines
  • Be responsible for supporting the execution of retailer strategy and joint business plans, ensuring the business develops and maintains profitable business, along with planning promotions and other activities.
  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders within all retailers, using these contacts to effect the business agenda.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a food or drinks manufacturing environment and will have managed relationships with major supermarket retailers in a previous role.
