Strings and Things Ltd is one of the leading distributors of musical instruments and accessories to retail in the UK and Ireland. With nearly 50 years’ experience in the industry our, mostly exclusive, brands include: Ernie Ball, Hercules Stands, Elixir, Mooer Electronics, Sterling by Music Man instruments, LR Baggs, Kyser Capos, and many more.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, proactive, and driven field sales professional to join our busy team covering the ‘West of England and Wales’. Candidates should ideally be based with easy access to M4 and M5 motorways, although other areas will be considered.

Job duties:

  • Work as part of an area team (with office-based Account Manager) and as part of the wider sales team.
  • Visit customers on a pre-arranged appointment basis: working to daily, weekly, and monthly call plans and targets. Travel and overnight stays are an essential part of the job.
  • Generate sales among an established customer base, including upselling and cross-selling.
  • Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships.
  • Manage projects within customer relationships: help achieve customer goals whilst meeting those of the company.
  • Identify opportunities to grow business with existing customers.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues.
  • Prospect, visit and evaluate new and potential customers.
  • Develop and execute bespoke marketing strategies and campaigns with customers.

Skills required:

  • Proven record in Account Management.
  • Current, clean driving licence.
  • Knowledge of musical instruments and accessories preferred but not essential, as is experience in selling our brands.
  • Excellent listening and presentation skills. You should be able to conduct meetings and presentations to a high standard.
  • Highly organised.
  • First class verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness and good negotiation skills.
  • Must have meticulous record keeping and administrative skills.
  • Be a team player: must be supportive and cooperative with all Strings and Things teams.
  • Customer focused solutions expertise.
  • IT literate and familiar with various CRMs, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft NAV.
  • Ability to manage multiple workload tasks and customer relationships at the same time, whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • A flexible approach to work and the ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Time management, including the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Excellent people skills: needed for working with a diverse range of customers and colleagues.
