THE COMPANY

Guylian Belgian Chocolates are sold around the world. Established since 1958, Guylian Original Chocolate Seashells are an iconic brand with strong Belgian provenance and CSR credentials. Made to the same delicious recipe and with traditional methods, including the use of large copper kettles to roast the hazelnuts used to make the praline filling, the Guylian brand underwent a big renovation in 2022 to contemporise the packaging and make it even more gift-worthy.

Since then, we use only 100% Fairtrade cacao and remain both palm- & soy-free. The next stage of this renovation, later this year, will see further improvements including a significant reduction in plastic packaging. Here in the UK, Guylian is THE reference brand for premium quality Belgian chocolates with consumers. Sales have grown steadily over the last 10 years. Supported with UK-specific creative brand marketing investment, our sales have accelerated ahead of the category, in particular over the last 2 years. Enjoying market-wide distribution, we plan to drive double-digit growth in the years ahead.

THE JOB

Following internal promotions, the UK team need a National Account Manager to drive our business across a portfolio of Traditional Impulse, Convenience, Travel and Wholesale customers. This appointment will report directly into the Sales Director and the individual will be an active and vocal member of the small, commercial team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a great brand in a small, friendly, experienced and cohesive team. Working to agreed KPIs, you will have real hands on P&L responsibility to identify opportunities for profitable growth, and to drive through proposals and plans with your customers. You will be fully supported by the wider team in your sales endeavours and will have the opportunity to further your personal and professional development towards demonstrating and harnessing your future potential.

The role is home based. Expect to work at least 1 day per week at our Oxford office, with your remaining time spent working from home and visiting your customers.

ABOUT YOU

Having grown your sales/account management career within an FMCG food, drinks or confectionery branded business, you are currently likely to be working at RAM OR NAE level, managing customers in any or the major retail of wholesale channels – and looking for that ‘career step up’ to your first NAM position … This is it!

You are motivated about working in a small, dedicated, professional team and are passionate about the ‘what and how’ of managing your business both internally and with your all-important customers. With a natural, highly personable style you are driven to succeed, capable of holding the ‘commercial floor’ and are results motivated, with a character that’s built with strong values and integrity.                                          

Your skillset and abilities should include insight-led, fact-based selling/influencing, building pragmatic business development plans and developing effective relationships, along with good attention to detail and strong, modern business communications.
