About Us: Phoenix Findhorn is a unique social enterprise, located in the world-renowned Park Ecovillage near Findhorn in Scotland, that combines the best of both worlds on two sites - a retail shop stocked with handcrafted treasures and local, organic and Fairtrade products, and a charming cafe known for its barista coffee and fine vegetarian food. We are dedicated to providing a memorable experience for our customers, offering a perfect blend of coffee culture and shopping delight. We are now seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our team and drive our continued success.

Opportunity: As the General Manager of Phoenix Findhorn, you will play a pivotal role in the overall management and success of our retail shop and cafe which are run as a local community-owned social enterprise. You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the retail shop, and line-managing the Cafe Manager. You will be leading a diverse team, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and contributing to the growth and profitability of the business. You will also have the opportunity to help shape this successful 20-year old company as we adapt to the changing operating environment and look to develop a new building.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of retail shop and cafe staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee all aspects of daily operations, including inventory management, scheduling, quality control, and customer service.
  • Customer Experience: Ensure that each customer enjoys a memorable visit by maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness, and product quality.
  • Financial Management: Monitor financial performance, create budgets, and implement strategies to meet revenue and profit targets.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Contribute to marketing initiatives, promotions, and events to attract and retain customers.
  • Inventory and Supply Chain Management: Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and develop relationships with suppliers.
  • IT: Oversee and ensure best use of IT including the EPOS system.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that the retail shop and cafe adhere to health and safety regulations and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a General Manager in the hospitality, cafe, or retail industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial management and budgeting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and customer service focus.
  • Passion for coffee, artisanal products, and a keen eye for unique retail items.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
