Working with this well-established highly successful luxury fashion business based in East London/Essex, the Senior Merchandiser will be a key member of the team, reporting directly to the business owner.

In this role you will strengthen existing merchandising processes, as well as set up new processes and expand the team.

A stylish independent retailer of luxury designer children's clothes, on the border of East London/Essex has a vibrant and fashionable website, and is the envy of many.

It has reach to a worldwide customer from as far as the USA, Middle East to China.

The operation is backed up by a high-tech Head Office and Distribution centre

The business was built over 30 years ago the business and has built a trusted and talented team which have helped drive the strategy and vision to make the company one of the market leaders today.

Description

The Senior Merchandiser's key responsibilities will include:

Working alongside the Business Owner to assess the requirements within the merchandising and buying function.

Helping to set up and implement planning tools, WSSI, range plans, budgets, critical path (including buying calendar and company wide promotional events calendar).

Quickly identifying key best sellers and ensuring stock levels can achieve maximum sales and profit potential.

Forming successful relationships across the business and wider business in buying, marketing finance and logistics.

Forming successful working relationships with key brands and understanding their requirements and improvements in ways of working.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Planning and developing merchandising strategies to maximise company profits.
  • Constantly seeking opportunities to maximise both intake and profit margin against plan.
  • Analysing sale figures, customer reactions, and market trends in order to anticipate product needs.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate prices, quantities, and time frames.
  • Working hand in glove with the senior buyer to provide the required insights to enable the buying team to maximise buying potential.
  • Present weekly and monthly sales and product reports to the team.
  • Manage all purchase orders and repeats.
  • Budgeting/Planning - Managing OTB- forecasting and monitoring sales and stock in line with KPIs
  • Work with Supply/Production to monitor intake dates to ensure accurate planning of Launches (in line with seasonality requirements)
  • Managing the critical path to ensure smooth development of the sampling process, maintaining key delivery schedules and communicate directly with suppliers.
  • Monitoring return rates and taking necessary steps to reduce customer returns.
  • Monitor and minimise overstocking and under-stocking.
  • Review of selling prices (increase/decrease), move to sale proposals.


Profile
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a fashion retailer, but not essential to be within the luxury branded fashion sector
  • An experienced manager with excellent people skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Personal interest in fashion and commercial awareness and interest in the luxury fashion market
  • Ability to think outside the box and actively bring to the table new ideas to positively influence the brand and product mix
  • Great time management skills with ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Willingness to go the extra mile to achieve individual as well as department goals
  • Positive and proactive attitude with ability to work as part of a team as well as taking ownership of individual tasks
  • Well-presented and with a professional approach
  • Eagerness to develop and grow within the merchandising function
