A day in the life of a Category Development Manager …
In this exciting and dynamic role within the Grocery Category Development Team, you will lead the category agenda with our top Grocers, ensuring we are delivering category & shopper insight-based plans to drive the Bottled Water category for our business & our retail partners.  

You will be instrumental in accelerating the influence and implementation of the Nestlé Waters’ Category Vision across the business by leading the category and shopper capabilities to inform and inspire how we continue to drive our growth agenda, by working closely with the commercial teams (Brand, Shopper and Sales).

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Leading the category relationship with key grocery customers and leading the category agenda based on the Nestlé Waters’ category vision
  • Identifying category opportunities based on strong customer & shopper insights and developing & executing category strategies to unlock the category potential 
  • Leading the customer category planning, range review and execution cycles
  • Driving the Category Strategy development & execution which remains at the core of Nestlé Waters’ UK plans to harness growth of the category by influencing the change in shopper behaviour
  • Collaborating with the Commercial Sales Team to harness the category and shopper growth opportunities to deliver an aligned commercial and category plan
  • Evaluating our promotional effectiveness across the Grocery channel & embedding learnings into future plans
  • Influencing the execution of the Shopper Marketing plans to deliver the appropriate level of online & offline in-store marketing activity for NWUK brands against the key shopper opportunities within nominated accounts

Skills and experience we’re looking for include: 

  • Strong graduate calibre with evidence of strategic ability in previous roles
  • FMCG experience in sales / category development / shopper development
  • Category development experience with one or more of the top 4
  • Flexibility and agility to solve problems / challenges rapidly and creatively
  • Strong evidence of working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver exceptional results
  • Experience in using IRI / Nielsen / Kantar data and insight tools and ability to convert data into strong insight​​​​Experience in using loyalty card data (i2c, HIVE or Dunhumby) is desirable
  • Experience working with Tesco is preferred but not essential 
  • Strong influencing skills with commercial acumen is a must
