The Compliance Director will lead successful delivery and set our strategy for innovation and continuous improvement.
Through a deep understanding of our clients’ needs and industry developments, the Compliance Director will be responsible for leading & advising our client's regulatory agenda and will be Ashbury’s visible and vocal spokesperson for the industry to establish Ashbury as thought-leaders.
Reporting to the CEO, the Compliance Director plays a critical role in our Leadership Team defining and delivering our global strategy to ensure continued growth. We are looking for an experienced Food Technical or Compliance Director who has worked across a variety of retail, manufacturing and consultancy environments and is able to oversee the successful delivery of all approvals through our process. You will need the ability to set and lead the strategic development of our services whilst ensuring all client KPIs are met.
The successful candidate will be a positive and pro-active communicator able to understand issues and offer innovative solutions at a strategic and operational level, with the ability to drive the success of our service. Ideally the Compliance Director will have deep knowledge of the food technical and regulatory processes and ideally have experience of working in technical or compliance roles for retailers or as a supplier to a major retailer. Understanding of product development processes, retail PLM systems and their approval processes is essential.
Role Expectations and Accountabilities
- To lead our Compliance Team and be accountable for the successful delivery of all our UK and International work. Success in this role is defined as ‘on time and accurate’ delivery to our clients keeping their brand and consumers safe and legal.
- Consistently seek a seat ‘at the top table’ – having the ear and respect of your most senior client and third-party contacts. Building confidence and trust within our client base to grow client advocacy.
- Understand the client’s regulatory, technical, and commercial objectives and how they relate to Ashbury’s business plan – financially and strategically
- to nurture the professional, approachable team who love what they do, are open to new ideas and take an honest, straight forward approach to delivering exceptional service.
- Input in to resourcing plan across internal Ashbury teams to ensure we have the knowledge and experience to lead the clients regulatory and technical agenda
Responsibilities
Line Reports
The Compliance Director will have line management responsibility for 3 Technical Managers, UK and International Regulatory Managers.
Team
Currently the Compliance Team consists of over 100 technologists and regulatory advisors; delivering UK and International Compliance. The team is not office based and is geographically spread around the UK (100), Europe (10), Middle East (1), Australia (10) and USA (3).
Activity / Deliverable
LMA - Leading, Managing and holding Accountability for personal and team performance
Setting Strategy - Strategic Plan for Technical and Regulatory delivery of the Compliance Team
Line Management - Undertake 121s for direct reports (minimum 1 per quarter) and support direct reports
Managing KPIs - Ensure meeting of KPIs is managed effectively.
Client Engagement - Maintain relationships with key stakeholders at all major retail clients and key manufacturing clients
Process - Consult, identify and implement best practice across accounts
Advisor Performance - Set the standards and monitor Advisor performance output. Monitor quality feedback and any issues, managing the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process where required.
Utilisation and Fee Earning - Monitor team utilisation rates and fee earning levels, to ensure correct team size for current workload.
