General Manager

An opportunity for an experienced General Manager to join a leading wholesale food distributor in the UK. As General Manager for the depot covering the south east you will take the lead and have primary accountability for the safety and wellbeing of the depot team, delivering service excellence, maximising profit and sales targets, as well as optimising costs, processes and efficiencies to enable the delivery of the depot’s business targets.

This role will give you the opportunity to manage all aspects of the depot in line with the agreed business plan.

Your key accountabilities as General Manager will be:

• Leading and motivating the senior depot team in a positive, motivational and structured way
• Delivering successful revenue, costs and profit targets
• Managing the sales effort, including field and telesales teams
• Driving a behavioural safety culture and an engaging people plan in line with the corporate vision, mission and values
• Drive the corporate sustainability ethos
• Optimise all key transport management KPIs relating to delivery, legal requirements, audits and accident prevention
• Manage all aspects of purchasing, stock management, and control to achieve agreed targets
• Manage and deliver on all health and safety, site safety, food safety, environmental and security objectives and seek to make continual improvements to core standards, processes and practices
• Manage effective Trade Union relationships at local and national level
