Coeliac UK currently has an exciting, challenging and varied opportunity for a Technical Sales Support Manager to join our team based in High Wycombe with the possibility to regularly work from home by prior agreement with your line manager. You will join us on a permanent, full-time basis working 35hrs per week. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of Circa £28,000 - £30,000 per annum plus 36 days holiday a year including bank holidays.
The Technical Sales Support Manager role:
You will support the sales of our food safety products to new and renewing Crossed Grain licence holders and GF accredited partners. The job holder will require both an in-depth understanding of the technical aspects of our food safety schemes and the challenges to achieve compliance, and also of the commercial value of the products to the external partners. This role works closely with colleagues in the Evidence and Policy team and will develop key relationships with external partners. The charity’s focus on improving the lives of those who need a gluten free diet is fundamental to this role, whilst generating income to support our work.
Key responsibilities of the Technical Sales Support Manager:
- To support the Licensing Officer with all new potential licence holders for the Crossed Grain trademark ensuring full adherence to the scheme requirements, and assist individual licensees with guidance and support where necessary
- To support the Catering Officer with all new potential GF accredited partners ensuring full adherence to the scheme requirements, and assisting individual partners with guidance and support where necessary
- Working closely with partners to develop long-term relationships to support their ongoing activities with Coeliac UK
- Working with Head of Commercial Development and other colleagues to identify new business opportunities, and to help research and establish new initiatives
- With guidance from the Head of Food Policy, provide technical expertise around the schemes both internally and externally to support their implementation and development.
- Supporting relationships with European and international partners as needed.
- Supporting the generation of income from the charity’s other commercial activities including advertising, sponsorship and other opportunities
- Providing guidance and support to colleagues around fulfilment of advertising and sponsorship e.g. reviewing copy submitted by commercial partners as necessary, to ensure adherence to Coeliac UK policies
- Working with the Commercial team and other colleagues on a variety of projects to secure objectives and strategic aims of the charity
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required for the Technical Sales Support Manager:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant science based subject.
- A food safety, nutritional sciences or quality assurance qualification is desirable
- A sales and commercial background, particularly in the food industry, catering or hospitality sector is desirable
- Ability to build relationships and rapport with experience in account management
- Analytical and numerate with necessary skills to produce, monitor and interpret technical and financial information and reports
- A positive, personable and confident communicator
- A confident and motivated team player
- Ability to identify new business opportunities and generate additional income
- Ability to manage workload on own initiative within a team environment
- Attentive to detail
- A ‘can do’, flexible approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of the FMCG market and ideally the gluten-free market is desirable
