The role:

• As Buyer Grocery you will have accountability for a specific category. You will develop, implement, and review a trading strategy for a specific product range of food products developing innovative buying strategies which exceed customer expectations.
• The Buyer Grocery will be responsible for ensuring that the supply base and the product range is optimized using data and analysis to maximize performance and drive sales, profitability and market share
• Negotiating with suppliers you will agree and deliver market leading joint business plans aligned to customer and wider commercial strategy.
• The Buyer Grocery will source new and innovative ranges and product innovation that exceeds customers expectations
• Working with internal and external stakeholders you will develop the strategic plan that will deliver long term growth

Ideal candidate:

• This Buyer Grocery role is ideal for a commercial individual who has food buying experience gained from UK food retail. This ideally is 1-3 years’ experience
• It is essential to be able to demonstrate hands on buying and have negotiated directly with suppliers. You must be able to show good commercial acumen, strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent communication skills
• In addition, you will demonstrate a passion for the customer and a flair for commerciality
