The Role:

We are looking for an experienced and energetic Sales Director to join our senior leadership team to support the rapid growth of one of Cornwall’s premium food businesses; St Ewe Free Range Eggs.

St Ewe Free Range Eggs is a family owned and values led food business that; farm sustainably, employ locally, are environmentally conscious, and work to make sure they have a minimum impact on the world’s resources while simultaneously providing produce that has a maximum impact on taste. We have enjoyed incredible success in recent years and this is genuinely an exciting time to join in the fun.

Through our vision and innovation, we are continuing to rapidly grow, develop new product lines and expand our operations.
St Ewe Free Range Eggs currently operate from our family farm but are currently building a new packing and administrative hub nearby to set us up for continued future growth. Therefore, this role is crucial at this time as there is a real need to develop the national sales customer base and
to extend our sales in some of the key customers in the retail sector. This includes selling some of the new product lines and developing new offerings.

You will be responsible for creating and delivering our sales strategy and will play a crucial role in the success of our business by achieving our sales growth and helping us maximise our profit margin. Working as a key member of the senior management team you will support us in the key decisions of this fast-moving business that is very innovative in this industry, whilst maintaining the St Ewe Eggs family culture.

The main duties of the Sales Director will be:

  • Developing overall sales strategy, tactics, plans and linking with the MD to maximise profit margins
  • Develop customer sales plans with all key customers, enhancing their brand and developing our business.
  • To work closely with the Head of Marketing to develop a marketing plan that delivers the sales targets and works up sales campaigns along with our key customer demands
  • During a period of intense growth, develop a strong pervasive culture of Service Excellence ensuring that the brand of St Ewe Eggs is protected and enhanced and the quality of the services to our customers are continually reviewed and improved.
  • Developing relationships with existing and potential customers
  • Identifying and reporting on business opportunities in target markets
  • Representing the business at conferences, trade fairs and networking events
  • Maximising new business development opportunities
  • To provide leadership to the sales team. Ensuring KPIs and budgets are exceeded.
  • To ensure an environment of team engagement, training and development is progressed and the
  • Working with our Operational, Marketing, HR, Finance, Product development, Technical Teams and our producers to ensure smooth relationships and responding to the needs of the business.
  • To continually motivate all the team and build capability and morale, ensuring day to day positive management with staff appraisals and developing the team to their potential.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • A real foodie and looking for a rewarding career challenge in an exciting growing family business.
  • Proven experience as a Sales Director or high-level sales position as part of a business’s senior leadership team.
  • Passionate about developing their teams, empowering their people achieve and flourish
  • Proven ability to set targets, manage KPIs and deliver results, supported by a positive track record in outcomes focused business planning, forecasting and managing risk.
  • Experience of the food industry and negotiating national contracts with supermarkets is essential.
  • Experience of Ecommerce & Food service is preferable
  • Strong experience in leading and managing in service-based organisations and have the ability to influence and collaborate with a wide range of senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills
  • Project and change leadership experience
  • Ability to see the bigger picture and contribute toward its success on a daily basis
