Category Manager – up to £45k & Benefits (Dependant on experience)

Providing support and reporting to the Head of Category & Insights.

Operating as an autonomous division of a significant UK food manufacturer, the client has created an enviable reputation for delivering fantastic food products to consumers who literally can’t get enough of them.  As a result, the retailers have elevated the business to Category Partner and so to maintain these high standards the business requires an experienced FMCG Category individual.

As part of a wider team this role will sit across Marketing and NPD to provide insights from market trends, consumer insights and pricing architectures along with commercial changes taking place across this fast paced and dynamic market.  To achieve this, you will be working across multiple internal stakeholders in Sales, NPD and Marketing whilst meeting with retailers on a weekly basis to develop new strategies for future growth.

This role is central to understanding the competitive landscape of the business and provide a platform for further strategic decision making. Therefore, you will be at the heart of the business with a view of everything that is taking place.

This is an environment for those earning freedom from the corporate glue of large multinationals as there will be few “policies and procedures” but plenty of freedom.  So you must be self-organised and motivated to deliver in a fast paced and uncompromising environment.

Supporting the Category Lead in developing strategic direction in the collation of reports, analysis and interpretation of market data/data tools such as Nielsen, IRI, Kantar, Dunnhumby, EPOS or similar to provide learnings and insights into the relevant markets; to enhance business decision making. These analytical skills will be complimented with strong communication competencies, presentation skills and excellent organisational which are balanced with outside the box thinking.

This will enable you to identify not just market trends but future opportunities that can be capitalised through your interaction with retail customers on a face to face basis.

You must be bright, sharp, self-organised, excellent eye for detail and the passion and aptitude to operate in this fast paced but exciting action driven environment to create exciting insights and category strategies to win. Providing clear analysis and conclusions.

With experience in a FMCG commercial category function this will provide an opportunity to develop your career through the groups training program which will lead to future promotion and development.

If you are interested please forward an updated CV and full salary details to Paul Nyman Consultancy who will be conducting initial on line interviews for the client over the next month.

Catmanjob.com was created in 2006 as a specialist division specifically supporting category, shopper and net revenue professionals.  The brain child of Paul Nyman who realised at the time “we just didn’t know enough about category management and how it affects a business”.  Catmanjobs operates as a division of  Paul Nyman Consultancy, which was established in 2004 to support wider FMCG recruitment markets, after Paul was made redundant, and toured the UK recruitment market seeking employment to pay the mortgage.

During this journey he identified some of the most important characteristics for job seekers hunting for a new role:
