We are working with a family owned horticulture business who have been established for over 40 years and have a reputation for delivering a high level of service with high quality products. Over the years, the company has seen steady and sustainable growth which they are keen to continue and ensuring they have good people in the business is crucial to this.

About the Role
As a result of a very well regarded and long standing member of their team moving on to a new opportunity, the business has a requirement for a Purchasing Manager / Head of Purchasing. The role will see you managing a team of 4 and ultimately being responsible for all of the purchases made by the business. This covers a significant number of items as you can imagine, ranging from plants to fertiliser, energy to stationary. Clearly a lot of these items will be higher value and more important than others, but it will be your role to ensure the team is well supported to manage the broad ranging requirements. You will need to work very closely with all internal teams to ensure forecasts are as accurate as possible and that you understand any constraints and possible opportunities the business has.

The Ideal Candidate
In a perfect world, you will have some experience of horticulture. However, this really isn't critical. Far more important is a good understanding of procurement best practice (within Food would be ideal but FMCG is crucial) and to be a strong fit for the business. The business has a very strong culture and everyone knows what is expected of them and strives towards a common goal. They are looking for someone who is hard working, driven and wants to help those around them improve and develop.
