The Managing Director will lead the UK operations at a very exciting period in the organisation's growth. Applicants should have a proven track record in sales as you will be expected to support the sales function as and when required, as well as having a strong commercial/business pedigree.

Client Details

My client is a long-term, fast-growing technology partner to the largest deposit return scheme (DRS) markets globally. DRS schemes are used around the world to encourage people to recycle drinks containers such as bottles and cans. This works by the concept of putting a deposit on drinking containers, so they are recycled and therefore contribute to a circular economy with less littering and pollution. My client supplies reverse vending machines and high-speed counting solutions. The company is privately owned, has its headquarters in Sweden, and last year their machines collected 11.5 billion used beverage containers globally. Ahead of a national roll-out of a deposit return scheme in the UK, they are looking to add a Managing Director with a strong sales pedigree to lead the UK operation and drive growth.


The Managing Director will be expected to deliver the following:-
  • Be based out of Edinburgh
  • Full Profit & Loss and staff responsibility
  • Manage the office and its employees
  • Lead and inspire the team to meet and exceed goals and objectives
  • Develop strategies and execute them
  • Develop business processes and organization.
  • Ensure the company is compliant with all relevant laws and regulations
  • Plan and implement cost-effective operations and market development activities
  • Build strong networks with all major retailers in the UK together with the UK Sales Manager and the sales team. Be actively part of the sales process and face customers.
  • Position the organisation as the leading supplier of reverse vending machines
  • Ensure that the service organisation is performing at a high level.
  • Be able to educate about the organisation and deposit return schemes


Applicants should meet the following criteria:-
  • You have an academic degree within Business Administration and/or Engineering
  • You have at least 2-5 years of relevant working experience from management positions with full P&L responsibility
  • You have experience from business development and key account management
  • You are a strong leader and have experience of management of employees
  • You have an interest in growing and developing talent
  • You are a strong team builder
  • You have successfully developed strategies and executed them
  • You have successfully managed P&Ls
  • You have a start-up mindset and "can-do attitude"
  • You are analytical, reflective, focused and action oriented
  • You live in or close to Edinburgh, Scotland
  • You have a clean UK driver's license
