Here’s an off-trade role with no trade-off.

You’ll be working for a young, independent whisky distillery with sustainability running through its veins.

So, you can grow your career and help to build a drinks brand, without selling out your principles.

The story so far

Founded in 2017, Nc’nean’s aim was to create a whisky that could exist in harmony with this planet we call home. They use organic Scottish barley in a distillery powered by renewable energy and recycle 99.97% of their waste. Their whisky is bottled in a 100% recycled clear glass bottle.

Nc’nean launched their Botanical Spirit in 2018 followed by their first single malt whisky in 2020. Their first bottle of whisky was auctioned for charity for a record breaking £41,000 and it’s been flying off the shelves ever since.

Where you fit in

This is a newly created role for the business. Reporting directly to the CEO you’ll be a key part of a small, dedicated team, with a brief to nurture and expand the UK off trade customer base.

Your initial focus will be on expanding reach with existing channels, whether that’s independent spirits shops, luxury retailers or like-minded ecommerce sites. You’ll define the target list and create the pitch to bring them on board. You’ll also be an ambassador for Nc’nean, attending trade fairs and delivering in-store training to customer sales teams.

It’s a home-based role but you’ll be travelling all over the UK, cultivating connections with customers and you will be required to travel to London regularly to meet the commercial team. You’ll also make occasional trips to the distillery on the west coast of Scotland, to meet up with the rest of the team and host guests.

What you can add

You could be doing a similar management role already, ideally in the premium spirit sector – or it could be the ideal step up for someone who’s excited about what Nc’nean are trying to do.

Either way, you need the character to prosper in a small business. So, as well as being a good team player, you’re well organised and self-motivated – capable of making things happen on your own.

You’ll need enough off-trade experience to convince us you can get results, but also be commercially aware and understand what constitutes success across all discipline. Naturally articulate and personable, you’re
able to liaise equally well with colleagues and clients, helping to process orders and balancing supply with demand. You’ll also need sharp attention to detail, to turn data into good decisions and plan marketing activity.
