Business Development Manager

The Company

Squirrels is a Discount Wholesaler supplying Independent and major Discounters in the UK. Squirrels is part of Kitwave which is an independent wholesale group which has seen huge growth recently and featured in both the Sunday Times ‘Top Track 250’ and The Grocer's Big 30 rankings.

We have depots throughout the UK and specialize in selling Confectionery, Soft Drinks, Snacks, Beers & Wines, Groceries, Frozen Food and Tobacco. As part of our expansion programme, the opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Managers at our Squirrels business based in Luton Bedfordshire.
 

The Role
The principle responsibility of the role is to acquire new business, both from a pre-defined prospect list of potential customers and from your own initiative. 
The candidate will also be responsible for developing customer accounts and maintaining good relations with the customer. 
The target customer base will consist mainly of Independent discount stores and convenience retail stores.
The role will be predominantly field based requiring face to face contact with the owners and managers of businesses.  

The Person
The candidate will need to:

  • have prior experience and skills within a field sales role
  • have proven sales experience selling into both convenience and discount channel
  • must have a good understanding of both sectors
  • have good product and customer knowledge
  • be self-motivated and sales driven
  • be approachable and a strong communicator
  • be IT literate
  • be ambitious and driven
