Senior Commodities/Fruit Juice Buyer – Group Level

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

• Purchasing of commodities (including fruit juice and other key raw materials), packaging, utilities, capital equipment and consumables, Sunmagic Juices, Nourisher and Fielding Dairies at commercially beneficial costs to the business
• To ensure group volumes are used where appropriate to gain best overall pricing
• To develop partnerships with suppliers to deliver optimum cost, service, whilst maintaining high levels of service and quality
• Overall responsible for leading and developing the procurement team, instigating and refining processes  that ensure accurate forecasting of all material required for the execution of the supply chain management processes
• To ensure that suppliers achieve and maintain the required level of performance in line with our purchasing requirements
• To proactively work with Finance, IT, and individual sites to implement and improve site MRP system effectiveness

KEY TASKS:

• To negotiate prices, terms and conditions with suppliers to drive a commercial benefit to the business
• Continue to seek new supplier opportunities both from the UK and  abroad in line with our technical processes and procedures
• To improve and expand the approved supplier base to the business to ensure cost competitiveness is achieved in all product categories
• To work proactively with suppliers to widen the specification of products within acceptable parameters
• To work with the site Technical teams to review the performance of new suppliers against defined criteria within the defined trial periods and BRC  Supplier Approval Procedures
• Work closely with the NPD teams in development of new products and ranges
• In liaison with Production Planning, ensure that products and material can be processed and released to production using site-based resources in a timely manner to meet production requirements
• Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities versus current spend
• Overall responsibility for the monitoring the performance of suppliers, including the use of market data and intelligence, competitor pricing, supplier OTIF performance
• Oversight and understanding of each site ERP systems to ensure a smooth flow of product data is continually reviewed and updated in line with latest forecasts
• Member of Product Recall and Crisis Management teams for all sites
• Oversight of the collation of site forecasts to ensure best possible data is derived from customers to ensure accurate forecasts for planning and purchasing
• Any other duties required by the business or requested by a Director
