Finance Manager / Qualified Accountant (Commercial FMCG)

Location: Head Office, St Albans – great transport links via train and only a 5 minute walk from St Albans City Station. (Due to covid the team is currently working from home, once we return to normal this role will still be able to maintain an element of flexible working with time split across the office and working from home 1 or 2 days a week depending on workload).

Salary: Competitive Salary – including company performance related bonus (paid out for the last 4 years), Single Healthcare Cover, 25 days holiday + bank holidays and the option to buy an extra 5 days holiday a year, access to free online learning, plus lots of free biscuits.

In order to ensure we can continue to make fantastic biscuits, and to help us on this amazing journey, we are proud to announce that in 2019 we completed the acquisition of a premium sweet and savoury biscuit manufacturer Thomas Fudge’s, also in 2019 we acquired Scottish bakers Paterson Arran. This increases our baking capabilities across a number of new sweet and savoury categories.

As a result, we now have 6 bakery sites across the UK, located in Blackpool, Livingston, Edinburgh, Dorset, Isle of Arran and Llantarnam, with our head office in St Albans. In total we employ circa 2,000 people around across our locations.

What does your typical day look like?

In this Finance Manager role, through business partnering you will be pivotal in providing accurate, timely financial information and expert financial advice to senior stakeholders.

Working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders both within and outside of Finance on financial matters including Board members. This is a role providing financial leadership to the key teams across the wider group.

The role will partner both key customer accounts i.e. a Leading Supermarket and specific brands within the business, to ensure the right commercial decisions are made.

What are the key ingredients needed for the role?

You need to be a qualified accountant ideally with 12 months post-qualified experience (ACA / CIMA / ACCA qualified). If you have strong commercial finance knowledge, are a great communicator with the ability to influence that the right decisions and actions are taken, then this could be the right role for you.

For a great candidate from the right background we might consider a part qualified candidate.

Final part of the mix.

If you have experience from with a top 4 consultancy practice, an FMCG organisation (which doesn’t have to be food), or even from a blue chip company and branded company (i.e. Retail). This should give you a strong base and allow you to continue to develop your career with one the UK leading food manufacturing companies.
