My client are seeking an experienced sales/business development manager, based anywhere in Scotland, to join a business which operates in the CBD and hemp industry, a very fast-growing part of the healthcare and wellness sector. With an extensive and growing product range, the next step is to position the products for sale in recognised chains of stores.

My client are a start-up operating in the CBD and Hemp industry, arguably the fastest growing sector in the UK market. With huge financial backing, this is an opportunity to join a very ambitious, meticulously ran organisation whom boast market leading products that have the highest compliance ranking possible.


The key responsibilities are as follows:-
  • Develop key new business opportunities to grow revenue in all sales segments
  • Identify opportunities across all market segments with a particular focus on national chains of stores
  • Develop and execute a national and, in time, European strategic sales plan to achieve sales targets and expand the customer base
  • Implementing regional sales plans for each region/country: leading deal processes, sourcing opportunities, performing analysis and negotiating deals
  • Drive conversion of direct enquiries
  • Continually audit our business mix to ensure we have the right business segments to deliver exceptional results
  • Ensure systems are in place to offer cross-sell opportunities to new & existing customers
  • Attend and participate in sales initiatives, customer appointments & trade shows as required
  • Assist team members in increasing closure rate, deal velocity and customer retention through monitoring, coaching, and demonstrating best practices
  • Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories and projecting expected sales volumes and profit
  • Ensure measurement systems are in place to track the production of all targeted accounts and new opportunities
  • Be responsible for development and progression planning for team members
  • Ensure that the team is fully trained and equipped to sell


You will possess the following:
  • Current or recent experience in taking products from production to shelf
  • An established network of contacts, particularly within national retail chains and distributors
  • A proven track record of successful deal-making, building trust and defining and leading large, complex end-to-end deal processes. A background in the FMCG industry would be an advantage
  • A proven understanding of customers' business and category, including business plans, competitive environment & distribution channels and product financials
  • Extensive understanding of local and UK market and industry in order to make recommendations on how to achieve the budget
  • Being at the sharp end of driving the sales process from plan to close
  • Ability to recommend targeting proposals and to assess marketing implications and aggressively manage to ensure profitability
  • Experience of assessing commercial contracts
  • Ability to take initiative to identify, prioritise and implement actions required to achieve functional goals.
  • Experience of working collaboratively within a leadership team
  • Ability to direct collaboration among colleagues and external resources
  • A strategic thinker with excellent communication skills: presentations, written and public speaking
  • Ability to act as a powerful advocate on our behalf, being enthusiastic and passionate - it is critical to our success that our staff develop an interest in our industry
  • Experience working in multi-cultural or international settings may be an advantage.
  • An excellent team player with the ability to provide development and mentoring to others
  • Ability to deliver performance feedback to subordinates to improve overall performance
  • Ability to work independently and manage the work of others
  • Strong problem solving skills including ability to address any issue in collaboration with others, identify and prevent potential problems and develop problem solving skills in others
  • The highest standards of ethical behaviour and absolute discretion with sensitive information

Job Offer

A base salary of £50,000-£55,000. We could potentially go above this for the right person, within reason.
