Last year the company imported 500 containers of home and garden products, generating sales of c£30 million across retail, wholesale and web based sales. This year will be more successful again and the role of Director of Operations has been created to drive and control growth in all areas of the supply chain and retail operations.

THE ROLE: Director of Operations

We seek an experienced Director of Operations with Far East and consumer goods experience who will develop, drive and deliver the Operational strategy for the company through the leadership of department managers and their teams. The objective of the role is to provide 100% product availability with the optimum level of stock holding within an agreed budget. 

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Ownership of the supply chain from the point of manufacture to the consumer
  • All aspects of warehousing, distribution and logistics
  • Negotiating sea and land freight supply contracts
  • Identifying and evaluating new retail sites
  • Exceptional cross functional communication with colleagues in buying, sales and finance

CANDIDATE PROFILE – Director of Operations

In order to meet the requirements of this demanding and important role we are looking for an experienced Director of Operations who can demonstrate at least 10 years of operational leadership with a major retailer or consumer goods supplier.

The right candidate will be:

  • Located in Essex, Hertfordshire or Cambridgeshire
  • A skilled senior manager and leader of high performing teams
  • Extensive experience of Far-East importing and UK distribution
  • Highly capable negotiator with strong commercial acumen
  • Able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure, fast learner, driven
