Our client is a fresh produce business that supplies a wide range of fruit and vegetables to the retail and food service sector throughout Northern Europe. Due to a growth rate of 10-15% year on year, the company now have a strategic 5-year plan to rapidly expand and develop further into new markets.

This is a demanding but unique opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Manager or Buyer to join a unique operation and highly ambitious team.

To be considered for this role, experience working as a Purchasing Manager or Buyer in the fresh produce sector is essential.

In this position, you will be required to:

• To create and mature exceptional business prospects.
• To develop and manage supplier and grower relationships both in the UK and overseas.
• To research, analyse and investigate national and international operating markets and competitor pricing strategies.
• To negotiate and agree weekly and seasonal prices with growers and suppliers.
• To problem solve and communicate with hauliers to ensure correct quality levels on arrival, accurate delivery times, continuity of supply chain and corporate service level agreements.

Key Skills/Experience:

• Two years’ experience in a supply chain or buying role within the produce industry
• Ability to analyse and understand national and international operating markets
• Proven negotiation skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• High level of self-motivation
• Ability to measure risk and make sound judgement
• Microsoft Excel - Intermediate to advanced level (knowledge of advanced formulae and pivot tables)
• Business conversational and written Spanish would be advantageous
