Commercial Manager

Personal care/ Cosmetics Manufacturer

North West

 

Responsible for the growth and protection of existing and new accounts to maximise all opportunities; profitably developing each relationship with the purpose of delivering the required annual growth of sales and gross margin by account across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

Account management

  • Be the customer face of the business, managing all levels of commercial business activity for both existing and new customers.
  • Develop new business opportunities; managing the whole sales process from hunting prospective customers, finding a solution for their needs to onboarding them with the business 
  • Regularly meet with existing customers and ensure a high level of interaction and visibility.
  • Keep up-to-date with customers market trends to ensure the customers’ business needs and opportunities are understood and met.
  • Identify new opportunities for existing business within new and existing ranges to drive sustainable, profitable customer growth.
  • Responsible for all negotiation and quotation submission (including T&C’s, Contractual Agreements and ways of working).
  • Lead and manage annual cost reviews for given customer base.
  • Work with Finance to forecast annual/quarterly/monthly sales value and volume budgets.
  • Responsible for hosting customer visits and site tours.
  • Attend Exhibitions; representing and selling the expertise and capabilities of the business. Seeking new opportunities for growth.

Product Development   

  • Manage NPD (new product development) externally with the client.
  • Pull together NPD briefs for the briefing out product development internally.
  • Working with the customer to review, advise & feedback on formulations, proposed packaging & ingredient claims.
  • Manage internal costings & commercial offer to the client. 
  • Risk and issue management with client.
  • Management of conflicts to ensure team alignment and escalation to remove blockages as appropriate
  • Provide all of the same services for sister brands and brands owned by the business.
  • Manage EPD (existing product development) both internally and externally (eg projects that evolve products already in the market such as label changes, case configurations, formulation modifications)
  • As above with additional responsibilities of coordinating all internal activities; such as managing the project timelines, leading any project meetings and issuing project minutes.
  • Provide all of the same services for sister brands and brands owned by the business.

 

 

The ideal candidate:

  • ‘Hunter’ mentality, driven, hungry and proactive.
  • Experience in working within contract manufacturing is essential. 
  • Experience within the Personal Care, Household and Pet Care industry.
  • New product development and project management knowledge.
  • Confident communicator, presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload, problem solve
  • Roll up sleeves approach.
  • Diverse skillset and wide breadth of knowledge; Ability to join the dots.
  • Experience of working with Brand Owners, Designers and coordinating between Packaging, Purchasing and Supply chain.
  • Ability to use computerised information systems, input, retrieve and manage customer accounts
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook
  • Good verbal communication and good interpersonal skills at all levels of the business both internally and externally
