About Our Client
Our client is a well-established supplier in the landscaping sector. They grow the majority of their products and are well-known for the range of quality stock that they offer. From their sites, they supply multiple customer channels and work together as a team to deliver the best results. They have an experienced and knowledgeable team that help one another deliver results. The business has significantly invested in its sites to maximise efficiency. They are very focused on their green credentials and sustainability too.

About the Role
You will work closely with the purchasing manager to support the buying function of the business. You will utilise your horticulture knowledge to assess suppliers and products to get the best possible range of products - including some plants, plugs and associated growing products - growing media etc. You will work with the growing team to assess their needs and the stock required to ensure a smooth production process whilst minimising stock holding. You will work with the suppliers to assess the range of products that they offer and communicate with them to assess areas that have scope to develop. Your job will be to help the business assess suppliers on quality, price, support capabilities and reliability of service levels. You will be able to build long term relationships with suppliers and secure their support throughout their range. If for any reason supply is in issue, you will work with the business to solve short-term supply issues.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this role will be a recent horticulture graduate who is either looking to progress their career in a buying function, or already has a year or two buying experience. You will be highly organised and will be able to multitask and prioritise your workload. You will be a strong communicator and will be able to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. You will be self-motivated and be able to run with projects and make them your own.

Minimum Requirements
A strong horticulture knowledge and background are required for this role. You will have knowledge of the industry, products, suppliers and supply chain. You will need to have strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel - some ERP/MRP experience would be ideal too.

Salary
Competitive entry-level salary DOE with progression potential
