At Weezy, our mission is to deliver life-essentials, creating ever more happy and spontaneous moments at home. Make this a reality as Weezy’s Buyer Manager. You will join the rollercoaster of a well-funded startup (£1m pre-seed from Heartcore Capital) and get the unique opportunity to build a UK-wide consumer brand.

You’ll be responsible for 10x’ing Weezy’s footprint and assortment of products over the next 12 months across London and the UK by refining and executing on Weezy’s buying playbook. Expect to be working on a daily basis with the founders, senior leadership team and investors.

Key Responsibilities

You will be joining a 3 person small Commercial team that collaborates very closely and is focused on rapidly creating impact. In the first 6 months, you will help take Weezy from its current Beta launch with one fulfilment centre to proving product-market fit and launching new fulfilment centres across London. You’ll build new supplier responsibilities, scale up the buying process and be responsible for the commercial gross margin of the whole offer.

As the first Buyer Manager at Weezy, you will take on responsibilities in buying products and establishing supply partnerships. Reporting to the Commercial Lead, you will:

  • Own all supplier relationships and cost base
  • Manage daily supply operations, working directly with Weezy’s fulfillment teams, supply partners and offshore procurement team
  • Find and test new products and set up new partnerships with wholesalers, FMCG and local businesses
  • Track, analyse and report on key metrics, such has revenue, margin and stock availability
  • Identify trends and insights, while getting to know exactly who our customers are and what makes them tick
  • Build and improve on buying operations from 1 store to tens and beyond
  • Develop, test and scale new initiatives in Supply & Assortment management that will enable us to grow faster, from improving the offer and experience to establishing scalable processes
  • Develop strong working relationships with engineering, operations and finance, to effectively co-problem solve on how to build our data warehouse, how to decrease waste or how to manage invoices efficiently

Requirements

  • You are ambitious, believe in Weezy’s mission and get excited taking on challenges. You work hard, play hard, care about the people you work with and love being part of a team. Ideally, you recognise yourself in the following:
  • Experience in buying groceries or FMCG category management, either at a blue chip retailer or at a high growth food delivery company
  • Demonstrated ability to build an index-match excel model to manage margin and to quickly spot trends with a pivot table, with a detail-oriented yet pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Obsession with execution: getting things done and generating immediate impact gives you kicks
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels, from the owner of the local butchers, to the head of accounts of the biggest national wholesaler, to the rider at Weezy that will stock in and deliver your products
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, short deadlines and changing priorities
  • Strong initiative and entrepreneurial drive
  • Be a role-model of the Weezy mindset: we all get stuck into daily operations as and when needed and because it makes us improve our processes faster
  • Fluent in English - both verbally and in writing
  • Plus: Experience in high growth environments
  • Plus: Experience with both Packaged and Fresh categories

Benefits

  • Opportunity to build the buying relationships of a business in hyper-growth, across the whole assortment
  • Intensive mentoring from a high-pedigree leadership team that will challenge you, build on your strengths and invest in your personal development
  • Competitive compensation package including salary
  • 27 days’ holiday plus all bank holidays
  • 3% pension plan employer contribution
  • Yearly book buying allowance
  • Quarterly team outings
  • Company branded clothing
