Denholm is delighted to be working in partnership once again with Innis & Gunn to hire a Director of Marketing.
Since it’s creation in 2003, Innis & Gunn spearheaded the barrel-ageing beer movement from Scotland; The brewery has grown since then to be one of Scotland’s most successful international craft brewers, exporting to over 35 countries. The Original continues to be Innis & Gunn’s flagship beer, alongside Innis & Gunn Lager which is the No.1 craft lager in Scotland as well as award-winning IPA.
In 2017 they achieved the 14th consecutive year of double-digit volume growth, selling cases of beer in over 35 countries – and are now No.2 craft beer in the UK off-trade, No.1 imported craft beer in Canada, and in the top 3 imported craft beers in Sweden and the US.
The Innis & Gunn Brewery in Perth is their home for innovation and barrel-ageing and they are now planning to build a new large scale brewery in their hometown of Edinburgh - the first new large brewery to be built in the capital in 150 years.
Due to further ambitious plans to accelerate consumer awareness and acquisition across Innis & Gunn’s core markets, Scotland, England, Canada, Sweden, USA, they now require a Director of Marketing.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, this role will take ownership of all marketing and PR activity for the business in the UK and Internationally. The Director of Marketing will lead and develop the marketing team to deliver brand strategy for the key trading channels across core markets including, the On & Off trade, ecommerce/digital and the valuable High Street Retail business. The Director of Marketing will have full responsibility for budget spend (which is due to double in size over the next year) and as a member of the Exec Team, will contribute to influencing and shaping the wider business strategy.
With flexible home/remote-working – but with a minimum of 2 days p/w spent in Edinburgh – the Director of Marketing will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of long-term and annual brand strategies through a redeveloped Brand Positioning; implementing agreed brand strategies and building capability for a Digital First Marketing approach. The successful candidate will develop and adopt a suitable leadership style – directing, empowering, coaching and motivating – to suit rapidly changing market conditions and working environments.
To be considered, you will have a proven track record in marketing and brand leadership from within premium alcoholic drinks. With a strong preference for international/export brand management, you will have evidence of operating effectively at a strategic and board level, both as a curator and implementor of strategies. Ideally with both blue chip and SME exposure, you will have demonstrable leadership experience with the ability to inspire, develop and motivate high-performance (remote) teams. A visionary and not afraid to challenge the status quo and to drive change, you will be an expert in cutting-edge digital marketing to get more people thinking, ‘This sounds like a beer I need to try…’.
