Imports Manager | Fresh Produce | Bedfordshire

We are looking for an experienced and effective Imports Manager to join a very successful Fresh Produce business. This role is a key part of the business and ensures that their produce enters the UK as efficiently as possible. You will be the main point of contact with the freight and clearing agents in the UK, ensuring as smooth a process as possible.

The Role:-
You will be responsible for ensuring all of their produce (primarily in sea freighted containers) is cleared and forwarded in an effective way.
You will be assisting the Procurement Director in negotiating shipping contracts and price analysis as well as preparing all the documents for customs clearance.
You will be utilising a number of different systems, including Datafreight, CHIEF, CNS and DEFRA - PEACH. You will also need to be experienced with HMRC policy and processes.

The Candidate:-
You will have at least 3 years of experience in an Import / Clearance position with in depth experience of shipping legislation and processes. Experience of moving Fresh produce is a definite benefit but not essential.
You will have direct report to support with the admin requirements so experience of people management is a plus.
You will be a key point of contact to a number of departments so good communication skills are a must.
