Job Details

Main Job Purpose:

To undertake personal responsibility for Brakes and contract caterers and a selection of National End User contracts pulling through these accounts in order to deliver the necessary business objectives from within the Wholesale sector.

Business Development

To achieve revenue and profit objectives by working closely with the Business Unit Controller & Marketing Controller to identify and actively target new opportunities within a specified portfolio of existing and target customers, within the Wholesale & Contract Catering Sector.

  • Support the strategic direction of the Wholesale & Contract Catering Sector, through the construction & implementation of comprehensive Account plans.
  • Drive such plans throughout the business, in order to ensure the targeted growth objectives are met.
  • Work closely to identify relevant NPD opportunities within the sector & alongside the Marketing Controller. Create appropriate NPD proposals, supported by Revenue & Margin targets and supported by thorough launch & activation plans
  • Challenge the status quo, in order to achieve a culture of continuous improvement & best practice & one whereby  you are committed to go beyond the call of duty, in order to deliver outstanding results
  • Prepare annual budgets of volumes, selling prices, costs and margins by line, by account, for inclusion in the annual company business plan.
  • Prepare Annual Individual Account and activation plans, aligned to the Core Channel Objectives and execute on time and in full.
  • Produce and maintain a matrix of gains, losses and active opportunities, with specific time-lines of achievement.
  • Regular progress updates with your Business Unit Controller to review progress and ensure appropriate action and focus is being applied.
  • Ensure that all customer quotes satisfy company margin requirements and address any cost implications and/or issues of sensitivity particular to third party trading.

To agree with the Business Unit Controller the annual budgets for sales volume, turnover, gross margin and expenditure. Monitor performance against these budgets and take remedial action where appropriate.

  • Vigorously recommend all necessary courses of action that enable the annual budget to be achieved within your customer base and take personal ownership in the delivery of these actions.
  • Agree with the controller a pricing policy by account that meets the requirements of the company.
  • To monitor business under contract and propose, negotiate and achieve any company required price increases and terms in line with contract time frames.
  • Ensure all necessary Trade Terms are negotiated, in order to meet the requirements of our company and that these are agreed, in place and are signed within a company agreed document ahead of the implementation date.
  • Develop and maintain broad professional working relationship within Account Base, but with clear focus on the following departments within any customer account: -
  • Purchasing
  • Marketing
  • NPD
  • Operations
  • Sales

Qualifications / Skills Required:

  • Wholesale Distributive experience with specific exposure to both Brakes and other contract catering accounts
  • Commercial acumen and experience in dealing with budgets, margins and volumes.
  • Can lead, motivate and energise others.
  • Persuasive
  • Resilient and determined.
  • Outgoing and articulate, with gravitas that inspires confidence in Senior Managers.
  • Ability to demonstrate proven track record of success.
