 EMEA Digital Marketing Manager SEO/SEM - EMEA COE Team   

Based: Haddenham, UK (3 days in the office and 2 days remote)

The McCormick EMEA Digital team are recruiting a Digital Marketing Manager to lead and implement the global search strategy, prioritising both SEO/SEM best practice in the region. This will happen across defined platforms, markets and consumer targets, to achieve specified KPI's to accelerate paid media, ecommerce growth platforms and “Direct to consumer” projects.

Search Engine Marketing is core digital capability and competency McCormick are looking to in-house, managing organic and supporting regions/local markets with best practice paid search. The Search Manager is responsible for search visibility for EMEA brands and products in our digital communications.

The role will require close collaboration across the EMEA Marketing & Insight Team, while ongoing engagement with the commercial, ecommerce team is vital to transform ecommerce in the region.

As the “Subject Matter Expert” for search, a core responsibility will be advising local markets on best practice and setting advertising spend, benchmarks and media tolerances for keyword spend.

Technical competencies:

  • Proven SEO experience and a track record of improving results
  • Solid understanding of performance marketing, conversion, and online customer acquisition
  • In-depth experience with website analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Moz etc)
  • Experience with A/B and multivariate experiments
  • Knowledge of ranking factors and search engine algorithms
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in SEO
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints
  • SEM experience and managing PPC campaigns with major media owners
  • Experience with search optimization and configurations, using a variety of tools (Google Ads, Amazon, Search Console etc.)

 
Ecommerce/DTC competencies:

  • Proven SEO experience and a track record of improving results for ecommerce and DTC brand offerings over-time and staying ahead of industry trends
  • Experience working with the commercial, ecommerce functions to drive category growth and implementing strategies to optimise the digital shelf
  • Experience in driving and optimising retailer search and reporting back on key learnings, recommendation to optimise both on/off site search
  • Led competitor benchmarking and ongoing analysis to identify new content, tech and consumer experiences on site
  • Experience of Amazon services and core product to optimise JBPS with the ecommerce giant to scale best practices to markets
  • Understanding of the Google Marketing Platform to accelerate POE media plans and drive ecommerce transformation targets and capabilities within the EMEA region

Core responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, analyse and improve all SEM activities for the EMEA region, including UK, France, Poland and other priority growth markets/platforms
  • Manage campaign expenses, staying on budget, estimating monthly costs and reconciling discrepancies through ongoing trend, keyword analysis
  • Execute tests, collect and analyse data insights to optimise paid and organic strategies with markets
  • Continuously refine the existing search strategy; own and execute the aligned Search Marketing Strategy for organic search, as well as paid search support.
  • Manage the EMEA search agency closely and effectively and collaborate on work with the paid and organic search plans respectively for EMEA growth platforms and local activation plans.
  • Continuously optimize search activities and results, globally and locally. Demonstrate success, identify improvement areas, and perform competitor analysis.
  • Staying abreast of the latest trends and best practices in the Search industry, recommending and implementing strategies globally and locally.
  • Setting clear goals for search performance which are aligned with the overall goals and KPIs for Global and Local Marketing.
  • Work closely with the Global Development team to achieve best overall results, incl. producing hygiene SEO reporting for immediate action
  • Support the Digital Marketing team in ad hoc projects as required from time to time. This is a fast-moving environment and flexibility in task will be required.
  • Documented, strong experience from Search Engine Marketing, organic & paid, in large scale digital international environment.
  • Being a pro-active and passionate team player, who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and work hands on to implement work, whilst having the ability to also think more long term. 

 Critical Skills/Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, presentational, and process skills
  • Understanding of how to deliver digital and media performance management via cross-functional team. Strong business acumen to prioritize opportunities
  • Clearly understands Paid/Owned/Earned media dynamics and how to plan, integrate and successfully implement
  • Experience in regional environments, ability to work across various cultures & capability levels, understanding regional trends and media landscape across EMEA region—not just one market
  • Agency Management – knows how agencies work (typical issues, way of working, internal working), and will manage effectively
  • Progressive Mindset – will push both Agency and brand teams/markets to advance. Collaborative and works well in a project/team environment
  • Experience with web analytics, using a variety of tools (Google Analytics, Data Studio & Tag manager included)
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, organizational, and prioritization skills are required

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree
 
Media Experience & Capabilities:

  • Position requires relevant combination of senior level media/digital/agency related experience.
  • Majority of experience should preferably be either digital/ Media client - side or agency - side. Experience on the publisher/vendor side or marketing/communication agencies may be a plus but only as a smaller portion of overall experience.
  • Media/Digital/ measurement experience, including and the deployment of econometric modelling in plans, ROI and e -Value Management concepts
  • Broad experience in various consumer product categories preferred.
