Food Service…  Love it?  Are you craving a new opportunity and challenge?  Maybe you’re frustrated about the lack of opportunity in your current business perhaps, or maybe frustrated about an inflexible way of working?

If so, we may have just the thing for you then!...  A rare opportunity at this level of hire in the North, and one which has such a fantastic platform for growth, incredible brands, investment in innovation and opportunity for wider personal development if that’s something you’re also looking for.  They’re flexible, demonstrate they care and have an inclusive way of working.

This National Account Controller opportunity offers a home-based contract for an FMCG business based in Yorkshire who have strong roots, huge ambitions and a culture which promotes genuine accountability and a people focused way of operating, and that’s not just with the customer in developing a partnership based approach, but internally focussed too.  I can’t stress enough how important, people, team and talent development are.  To succeed in this role, the ability to identify talent and nurture growth is a must.

So what’s this role all about?

  • National Account Controller (Food Service) for a significant part of the business – This is no second fiddle role, this is strategic, high visibility and a high output role.
  • Team leadership, setting strategy across your channel taking into account wider business metrics within the OOH sector.
  • Overall P&L management and delivery, implementing agreed activity and developing relationships, strategic partnerships and better ways of working across the entire estate through the support of your team.
  • Lead and develop a team who will follow in your footsteps to drive growth.
  • Ensure robust and challenging KPIs are effectively implemented to create the mind-set and behaviours of growth and self-development across the team.
  • Work alongside the Sales Director to help deliver strategic plans identifying key growth opportunities and develop a plan to win.
  • Creativity, engagement and driving of numbers through your team.

Everything you’d expect really.

Next question, what does a successful National Account Controller look like for this FMCG organisation?

  • Firstly, you will have depth of knowledge within the Food Service arena having operated across multiple customers in Major End Users and Contract Caterers.
  • You have to have strategic senior national account management/ channel lead or controller experience within FMCG Food Service specifically, understanding the Food Service sector and the complexities that comes with it along with the relationship led approach.
  • To succeed in this role, you must be a people person, you win through developing relationships and can navigate your way through complexity.
  • You’re into the detail when it comes to numbers. This is where you spot growth opportunities and how to get the best out of your P&L and margin.
  • You also must be able to demonstrate you can think differently – how do you engage with customers outside of the norm, are you trying to move forward doing things that your competitors aren’t?
  • You’ll show initiative and demonstrate growth, you’re not happy to settle with the status quo.
  • You’ll be results focused, people driven and great at relationships acting with integrity honesty and transparency always.
  • Team leadership experience with proven success of developing people and delivering through a team.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, you will be excellent with numbers and highly capable in analysis, top to bottom P&L management and setting budget.
  • Proven in delivering strong sales figures, capable of developing relationships to create long lasting partnerships.
  • Understanding of the wider supply chain including demand planning, marketing and category management.
  • People orientated, you’re a natural influencer and networker who creates compelling presentations able to communicate at all levels of business.
  • You’re driven, conscientious, detailed in your approach and above all else, a team player.
