Junior Category Buyer
We are working with a truly unique business, one of the UK's biggest handlers of fresh produce. They are growing and would like to add an enthusiastic Junior Category Buyer to their Commercial team that they can invest in and help grow with the business.
This role will see you working closely with the businesses buying and selling policies, procuring produce and getting to know the lead times associated with the speed of the industry. You will be working closely with the Commercial team maintaining stock and waste figures to keep the business figures up to date and relevant. You will also be working to give insight into specific business categories that you are responsible for.
You will also be working closely with growers in the UK and abroad, establishing links and communications. Setting up meetings and building relationships is a corner stone of this role and will benefit you and the business the more successful relationships you have.
The successful candidate will have the following:
A relevant fresh produce/agriculture/food degree or equivalent experience in the industry (ideally both).
Brilliant numeracy, Microsoft Office and relationship building skills will help you with growers and within the Commercial team.
You will also have a great attitude to working, keeping service levels high and able to work away from the office and potentially travel abroad where necessary.
Ideally 1-2 years commercial experience under your belt, with the ability to have difficult conversations where necessary.
This would be an ideal move for someone with a year or two under their belt or placement year in a commercial role who is looking to further their career in procurement.
