Head of Sales and Purchasing | Fresh Produce | Non-retail

We are working with one of the most recognisable non-retail specialists within the fresh produce industry. They currently have a requirement for an experienced Head of Sales and Purchasing to join their team and help them continue their growth. They are dealing with a range of wholesalers, caterers, foodservice aggregators and packers around the country. They source products direct from the growers and have excellent relationships with a number of partners around the world.

The Job:
You will be leading the Commercial team ensuring everyone is very clear on what is required and that they have tools available to them to get the job done well.
The best way to succeed and inspire in this role is to be hands on and be able to walk the walk as well. So you will still have the chance to keep your hand in on the general day to management of accounts as well.
You will have a strong background in sourcing product from overseas and be well versed in bringing these products in via sea, air and road where appropriate.

The Candidate:
You will have a passion for fresh produce and a proven track record of dealing within the non-retail space (caterers, wholesalers, packers etc). An understanding of retail requirements is a good thing though as they do supply them indirectly on occasions.
You will have a proven track record of achievement within the above areas and be able to bring and emulate this success with them.
A knowledge of sourcing products (and be able to travel as needed) from around the world is crucial.

The salary for this role is very much in line with the level of responsibility and experience required. They are very open minded in order to find the right person and this comes with an uncapped bonus as well as a competitive basic and car allowance.
