Business Development Manager – Foodservice Wholesale
£32,489 to £36,128 Basic, plus bonus, and company car
Our client already enjoys an enviable reputation in the spices and seasonings category, however they are about to launch an exciting new range of ready-made and semi-made sauces, having been designed with the foodservice channel specifically in mind. The sauces have been designed to appeal to the cost conscious and busy chef, and is anticipated that take up of the new products will be both substantial and rapid, alongside the existing product range which is already well received. Although there is no need to be from a cheffing background, you should at least enjoy food, and be able to hold discussions with executive chefs and kitchen staff about the merits of the products, and also to answer any questions they may have regarding their use. You will of course enjoy the full support of a technical services team from Head Office in Holland.
Some of your involvement will of course be with end users ( both “costs” and “ for profit ” customers ), however the company very much relies on its wholesale partners for the supply and distribution of its products. These include members of many of the wholesale buying groups ( Caterforce, Sterling, Fairways, Country Range and the likes ), as well as some of the major National wholesalers such as Brakes and Bidfood. There is no requirement to have had head office exposure to any of the wholesale accounts, however to be considered for this position you will enjoy a clear understanding of the ( delivered ) wholesale foodservice channel, as well as being able to demonstrate previous success selling into delivering results through end users ( in support of those wholesalers ). It’s vital therefore for this role, that you have had exposure to both the wholesale and the end user channels.
The area to be covered included the Midlands and South of England ( M62 down to the M4 approximately ) so there will be a substantial amount of driving involved, and some overnight stops. Candidates will ideally live in the Gloucestershire/Somerset/Wiltshire area. You will also be required to attend the annual sales conference in Holland ( normally two to three days in duration in February ).
In return for you dedication and effort, our client is prepared to pay a basic salary of between £32,489 to £36,128, plus bonus, and company car. Career prospects, and opportunities for personal development are excellent.
