As one of the largest chilled food businesses in the UK, my client is a market leader across multiple categories. They provide millions of consumers around the UK with high quality, premium chilled food products, supplying the UK foodservice channels. Their annual year on year growth has been in excess of 10%, they have reached this figure through creating high quality products, diversification and above all creating a collaborative and progressive working environment. Following this consistent growth year on year, there is now a requirement for a National Account Controller to join the team, managing one of the company’s largest divisions.

Reporting into the Sales Director, your role as National Account Controller will be to manage the day to day responsibilities of the organisations leading accounts, along with managing a team of 3 National Account Managers. In addition to this you will be expected to proceed on all commercial opportunities to maximise the potential for sales growth and achievement of increased volumes.

The functional duties of this role will include:

  • Assuming direct responsibility for nominated National Accounts
  • Direct reports to include the national account wholesale team
  • Collaborating with key functions including the UK independent trade sales team, marketing, R&D, quality & technical, manufacturing, procurement, planning and customer supply
  • Managing all people processes within the function including recruitment, retention, motivation, performance management, mentoring, coaching and delegation
  • Set and ensure achievement of targets and KPIs (as agreed)
  • Understanding all areas of the business that impact upon sales and influence these to deliver forecasted requirements
  • Ensuring all customer needs and plans are met in line with the business and the business strategy

In order to be considered for this opportunity you will have experience working within the food or drinks industry. It is desirable that you have experience managing senior / national relationships across the delivered wholesale, QSR and end user channels. All those working within one of these chosen channels will also be considered for the role. As well as experience working with your clients on a day to day basis, you will also show you are able to work in a collaborative way and show tangible examples of developing national accounts teams, either at Senior National Account Manager or National Account Controller level.
