General Manager | Fresh Produce | Holland

We are working with a well-established and highly regarded fresh produce business who have an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Manager to join their growing team in Holland. The business has seen excellent growth in their UK operation which lead to them extending their reach to Holland a few years ago. They are on track to achieve their ambitious growth plans and are looking for a General Manager to help keep the momentum going.

The Job:
You will be managing the Dutch "business unit" as if it is a standalone business. You will have oversight of the Finance, HR, Commercial and Operational functions of the business, with teams in place to manage the day-to-day challenges. Currently, they supply customers in Scandinavia, Holland, Germany and the Middle East, but there are numerous opportunities to grow this extensively. The business has a reputation for being a really lean operator, so there are lots of learning that can be implemented, but this will require buy in from the whole team. Working with the Group Board, you will be setting and delivering the target for Europe.

The Candidate:
Fluent English and Dutch (although if you were willing to learn and had other languages as well, then this could be OK too) is essential. Previous general management experience within fresh produce and a good knowledge of how the European retailers operate is really important. Communication is a really important aspect of this role as you will be reporting into the Main Board based in the UK, but you will also need to understand and manage a range of different cultures with various customers.
