Why work as part of our commercial team?
This is an opportunity to join an innovative sales team full of energy, drive and passion. You will make a real difference by managing your customer base and working closely with other departments to deliver great results across some of the best biscuit brands on the market.
What does your typical day look like?
This is a key role for business and will see you split your time between key Discounter Wholesale accounts, managing the full relationship and P&L, ensuring best quality & profitability is maintained across your portfolio. This will involve managing some promotional work with the customer, assisting with category data and working with NPD & Brand Marketing to understand how you can continue to offer your customer a clear point of difference within this varied channel.
The 2nd part of your role will see you take full responsibly for Burtons Biscuits surplus stock strategy, this will involve building key relationships across all of our grocery accounts & bakeries to understand forecast v’s stock holdings and anticipate in advance the strategy and channel required to commercialise additional routes to market. This is a fast paced part to the role & forms a key element to helping Burtons achieve their commercial strategy.
What are the key ingredients needed for the role?
To be successful in this role, you need to have either a great track record within the Discounter Wholesale channel and have a good working relationship with a number of existing customers or work for a Discount Wholesaler already. Or you will have experience of managing the surplus stock process within an FMCG environment., this could come from a number of experiences such as an Account Manager, Trader or working as a Buyer to name a few.
Final part of the mix.
You will need strong communication skills, be commercially aware and understand the complexity of the discounter channel and how it operates. Although our head office is based in St Albans, depending on location this role can be offered as home based and would require you to be in the office 2 days a week.
