Purchasing Excellence Controller

As part of the Greencore Purchasing Excellence (GPE) initiative we are looking to hire a Purchasing Excellence Controller to provide day to day leadership and direction to the Purchasing Excellence Specialists, ensuring that they provide the insight, capability building and appropriate level of challenge to the purchasing and other excellence teams, so that targeted savings are achieved and best practice purchasing processes are adopted.

You will be part of a wider business improvement (BI) community across all of Greencore, seeking to understand and unlock cost and value throughout the whole of the supply and manufacturing process. GPE is a fresh, structured approach designed to take the Purchasing function to the next stage of evolution and performance.

Role Responsibility

  • Act as leader and role model, for GPE and the associated transformational framework, to engage and build commitment to new ways of working
  • Interface with the Excellence community to support the delivery of cross functional opportunities
  • Match project requirements with the appropriate Purchasing Excellence Specialist expertise and availability to ensure that team members are effectively utilised and appropriate analysis and insight is created to meet the timings of the review cycle
  • Ensure the development of a pipeline of achievable GPE initiatives , through the effective deployment and coaching of  the Purchasing Excellence specialists, to deliver against agreed GPE targets
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Purchasing Excellence Specialists to ensure the team are kept safe, engaged, focused, developed and delivering to their potential
  • Coach the Purchasing Excellence Specialists to research and develop the appropriate costing models which identify cost savings

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree calibre preferably in Maths, Science or Business.
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a fast paced environment
  • Able to engage others to consider "what should we do?" and draw them away from "what we actually do"
  • Ability to build relationship and deliver results through others
  • Programme management/resourcing skills
  • Proven track record of building internal capability, coaching and facilitating skills development
