Our client is a highly successful division of a major FMCG agency operating across a number of diverse categories. The company has a growing presence in the household, healthcare and grocery categories with market leading brands. Still proudly privately owned and entrepreneurial, our client remains committed to strengthening its presence in the FMCG sector.

The business has some really exciting future growth plans for both existing and new brands, supported by significant marketing investment from the respective brand owners. They are now seeking a Business Development Manager to join their national field sales team in the Scottish region. The job role is field-based but candidates should ideally live within a reasonable commute distance to Glasgow. You must also possess a valid UK driving licence.

The Role

The BDM role will have direct responsibility for developing the company’s key brands across grocery, household and healthcare in a broad mix of accounts, ranging from cash & carry’s and wholesalers to retailers. Account experience managing United Wholesale Scotland, United Wholesale Grocers Ltd and JW Filshill Ltd will be advantageous.

Your key responsibility will be to build brands, drive NPD, volume and distribution in line with account and brand objectives, whilst effectively managing associated forecasting and finance considerations. You will be responsible for developing collaborative customer partnerships at all levels, through local account planning, terms negotiation and maximising A&P spend within agreed limits. This role will provide plenty of variety and challenge in terms of both customer and product responsibility.

About You

We are looking for graduate-calibre individuals with a minimum of c.3 years’ previous sales experience gained ideally in the cash & carry / wholesale / retailer environment and can display a genuine passion for FMCG brands. This is a hands-on role with real commercial responsibility that will test your influencing skills from day one. To be successful you will need to display a confident, articulate and persuasive personality, combined with passion and a drive for success.
