THE COMPANY

Few FMCG food companies can demonstrate such a high business growth success over the past 5 years than our client, a privately-owned, well-invested, added-value food group. Their core business strategy focuses on the leading Grocery Retail Multiples, where they have strong relationships and credentials for product innovation, coupled with their flexibility and speed-to-market capability.

Led by a dynamic and driven management board, they have carefully nurtured and developed a network of internationally-based food supplier relationships with producers of high quality, branded and own label products across a number of snacking categories, many of which match the healthier eating requirements of today’s consumers.

THE ROLE

The business is set to grow further and now requires a ‘creative foodie’ to join the commercial team, working across all of the leading Grocery Retail Multiples accounts.

Key responsibilities will be to shape and develop new product and packaging innovation strategies using consumer insight research data, as well as working closely with all manufacturing partners that meet the category-based requirements of key grocery customer buying and product development stakeholders.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role, with extensive cross-functional working activities with a key focus on balancing new product innovation with commerciality to ensure projects land in store, on time and deliver mutual profitability.

The role is office-based, with some home working flexibility and European travel, up to 3-4 days per month.

 THE CANDIDATE

With a highly demonstrable love for conceptual food development you have grown your career and experience in food or drink product development either in innovation, product management or NPD roles. You are now looking to take a step forward with a broader-based role, with the responsibility to directly influence and control major customer-led, own-label projects from concept to launch.

Currently working with a recognised own-label or own-label and branded food or drink business, you have gained a strong understanding and working knowledge of the NPD process aligned to the leading Grocery Multiple Retailers. This should include demonstrable success of leading or working with cross-functional teams through the full concept to launch new product innovation process as well as sales and profitability success.

Our client’s business has a pragmatic, open style where colleagues have the freedom and responsibility to get on with their job activities together, with the expectation to fully deliver their performance objectives. Equally, they provide outstanding leadership, support, training and future career-growing opportunities, as well as rewarding outstanding work performance.

If you would like to hear more about this interesting and highly-visible role where you can really make a difference in conceptual snacking food development, please call Mark on 07747 847214 or send your up-to-date CV together with full remuneration details and quoting reference MS/2044 to mark@smithcarey.co.uk.
