About the Job:
You will utilise your knowledge of vegetables and fresh produce to build relationships with ~15 suppliers to ensure year round supply of quality produce. Commercial capabilities are first and foremost in this role, however you posses good overall technical knowledge of growing, farming and agronomy. You will be personally responsible for root veg and a budget of ~£2m per annum whilst supporting on potato buying. You will utilise your experience in forecasting, supply chain, buying, stock management et al to ensure that products are used efficiently and ensure there will be not down time at the multiple sites that will fall under your remit. You will be comfortable getting out to see how crops are coming along and negotiating contracts with suppliers ensuring the best possible price whilst building a long term relationship.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience in vegetable buying/procurement. You will posses a strong technical knowledge or have an agricultural degree or background. You will be commercially astute, able to act under pressure and be a good rapport builder. Experience in buying from farmers / agriculture industry will be a real benefit. You will also have a great can-do attitude and be willing to learn and progress.
To be considered for this role you will need to have buying/procurement experience and have a solid working knowledge of farming/agriculture/agronomy/fresh produce technical elements.
~£30,000 - £45,000 DOE + car allowance, bonus, pension and other great benefits
