Wightman & Parrish are distributors of cleaning and hygiene products to businesses which operate in the Food and Beverage industry. Our ‘Intelligent Approach’ is a concept which sees us working in partnership with our clients by providing recommendations and solutions to their cleaning practices. Our goal is to help clients develop their business. We have an exclusive sales area with Diversey, who have acquired Zenith and CCL Pentasol and work closely with then for training, support and gaining new business.

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate to join our specialist sales team to deliver training and advice regarding food hygiene standards, cleaning practices and chemical use to our existing clients. You will also be responsible for seeking new opportunities to grow our customer base, increase sales and gross profit and:

  • Call on existing customers on a call cycle
  • Have a territory plan to achieve annual business objectives
  • Develop a sales pipeline to bring on a minimum of two new accounts per month
  • Maintain pricing with guidelines and sell in price increases
  • Manage operational details (pricing, delivery, etc.)
  • Maintain customer and prospect CRM records
  • Work in partnership with customer service team
  • Use management information to highlight opportunities and identify any lost business
  • Work with key manufacturers to develop new business
  • Carry out training and advise customers on dosing equipment, cleaning plans & COSHH
  • Carry out titration testing and chemical analysis

This requires you to visit all types of food and beverage manufacturing environments including breweries, vineyards, abattoirs, meat processing plants, fisheries, bakeries, fruit and vegetable packers.

The role is suited to a person who is outstanding at building relationships, has a knowledge of food hygiene standards and who can present product solutions.

Ideally the candidate has a proven sales track record working within the food and beverage industry – graduates with a degree in food management or catering with customer service experience would be considered.  The main attributes are:

  • Exceptional knowledge of food hygiene standards and food and beverage processing  
  • Ideally live within allocated sales territory
  • Confident presenter and negotiator, used to dealing with buyers at all levels
  • Ability to manage own time effectively
  • Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative
  • Basic level in IT; Microsoft Office and Power BI, CRM
