We are looking for a National Account Manager to join our team with the purpose of selling our ingredients into the UK Food Industry.

National Account Manager: Ingredient Sales

Richardson Milling UK is part of Richardson International who is Canada's largest agribusiness and a global leader in agriculture and food processing. Richardson Milling UK is a major supplier of grain based and extruded ingredients into the food and beverage business in the UK and in more than 30 export destinations. Our ingredients are used as a key part of the recipe of many well-known brands in these markets. Although our company's  main function remains the supply of oat based ingredients, we have expanded in the last two decades into several wheat, barley and rice based products to enable our customers to innovate and improve their product offerings. Our UK business has the benefit of the expertise and guidance of our parent company but operate as a business unit with full profit and loss responsibilities. Location:

Your office will be based in Bedford and this will allow you to benefit from a support structure of colleagues in other parts of the business. The expectation is that customer visits will require you to be away from the office for most of the week.

Primary Objective of the role:

To introduce and sell Richardson Milling UK’s Ingredients to current and new customers throughout the United Kingdom and to manage these accounts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sell to existing and potential direct accounts as well as provide sales support to the distribution partners
  • To participate in closing an order or to facilitate and add value to the selling process
  • Using your own initiative to find new customers and gain their custom by visiting and presenting RM UK’s product portfolio.
  • Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by having regular contact with them to understand their needs
  • Act as an intermediate between the customer and internal RM UK departments.
  • Execute sales strategy by implementing tactical plans to ensure RM UK’s ingredients are sold into the targeted customer industry.
  • Responsible for price agreements and supply chain agreements for all customers allocated.
  • Responsible to maintain margin with assigned customers as agreed annually.
  • Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales budgets for industry’s and customers allocated.
  • Maintain sales volume, product mix and selling price to agreed targets.
  • Be an ambassador for RM UK and represent our values at all times.
  • Continually assess current business distribution channels and evaluate their performance
  • Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team
  • Willingness to do extensive travelling to customers around the UK.

Reporting and Key Relationships:

The position will report into the Commercial Manager with a dotted line also into the Head of Sales. Key external contacts will be industry buyers and R&D / Product Developers. Key internal customers will be Supply Chain, Operations and Finance.

Qualifications

  • A Business or Food Science degree/qualification will be a strong advantage
  • 5-10 years sales management experience, preferably with a successful career in the food ingredient industry
  • A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Successful track record and experience in selling food products and ingredients.
  • Goal driven and passionate demonstrating a history in achieving sales targets and delivering on sales objectives while maintaining good customer relationships.
  • Able to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organisation
  • Strong commercial outlook and entrepreneurial approach to business development.
  • Excellent analytical, planning and communication skills.
  • High level of computer literacy including Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Proven business development skills and market knowledge.
  • A full and clean driving license
