My client prides themselves on creating premium seafood product ranges that stand out from the crowd.

The business has strong values in the respect that they conduct and operate in environmentally friendly waters when it comes to harvesting their catch. They have a dedicated group of people working within the organisation, all from different backgrounds but with one common goal - to share knowledge, to learn, develop and produce exceptional products for their customers.


As the business is developing further, they have now the need to recruit a Business Development Manager and Trader into the business, who will drive sales in new markets.

The Role

As the Business Development Manager and Trader, you will report directly to the Director of the business. The primary focus of your role will be to generate and drive sales of value-added seafood products by researching new markets and potential customers. Ideally you will be well connected within this market as the business needs someone who is able to hit the ground running from day one. This is a home-based role, however you will be required to travel to customer meetings and trade shows on a regular basis, so planning your schedule efficiently to maximise your time with customers is important.

Key Responsibilities

  • To set realistic targets for sales within the existing markets that the business operates in and to grow value added product presence in these markets
  • To highlight key untapped markets within the EU for value added seafood products and to start initial sales in these markets
  • To work alongside the current team and support them in driving sales of fresh and frozen seafood in existing and new markets
  • Meet the set objectives set by the Director of the company
  • To network amongst industry specialists by attending leading Seafood Expos and promoting the product
  • To be involved in product development (creation of various seafood product ranges)
  • To help innovate the full product range in order to grow sales and support the business in being a market leader
  • To build effective relationships with key stakeholder
  • To be able to adapt to different situations and take on new information
  • To effectively structure and manage workload
  • To be ready to travel to a variety of locations / events as often as required
  • To take direct and total responsibility for of your accounts
  • Efficient forecasting of your accounts and produce trading plans to demonstrate how/ when sales and profitability will be achieved
  • To always protect the company profit margin through careful implementation of customer discounts and "on cost" items - keeping these under ongoing review and gaining authorisation for any that are out of the normal guidelines
  • Keeping abreast of what is going on in the market

 


The candidate

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has an entrepreneurial attitude to assist in producing world class product ranges and contribute to the strategic direction and development of the business. The right candidate will have a 'can do' attitude to business and work to find solutions to sales obstacles. You will have the confidence and ability to see where the next opportunity is going to arise from. You need to be comfortable and confident at liaising with people at a senior level and be able to 'hold your own' in negotiations.

The right candidate will ideally have a minimum of 3 years sales experience working with an added value product category within seafood or ideally from another FMCG based backgrounds would be beneficial.
