Established in the UK 17 years ago, my client is a privately-owned Yorkshire based business that is now looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their team. The business operates within the fresh food market and had gone from strength to strength over the last few years.



Main Responsibility

To work with the senior management team to continue to grow the business, by providing financial insight and input into all areas of decision making. To ensure all aspects of the Finance function you are responsible for runs smoothly, all accounting deadlines are met, suppliers are paid correctly, customers are accurately invoiced and encouraged to comply with the sites terms and conditions and all management information is prepared and collated in accordance with the Groups reporting schedules.



Duties

  • Excellent all-round accounting experience, including experience as sales ledger and purchase ledger
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel experience (VLookups, Pivot tables)
  • Month-end nominal ledger and reconciliation experience
  • Journal processing experience
  • Weekly/monthly report monitoring & analysis
  • A "can do" attitude, an exemplary academic and stable work history record
  • Strong and confident communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Initiative, tenacity and confidence to make decisions in a role where you work within a team but you are responsible for managing your tasks and your own activities, daily, weekly, monthly and annually.
  • Ideally you will be studying for an Accountancy qualification either part or fully AAT qualified (or other accounting qualification).
  • Forecasting cash flows
  • Balance sheet Reconciliation
  • Dealing with HMRC (VAT/ Intrastat/ EC Sales)
  • Preparing aged debtors reports, analysis and actions
