Director of Policy, Food Standards Agency
Salary: up to £105k
Location: Belfast, Cardiff, central London or York, with regular travel to London.
We are at a pivotal moment in food regulation and food standards – almost half way through a four-year transformation programme, aimed at modernising and future proofing the regulatory regime in England, Wales and Northern Ireland as we transition out of the EU. We need a more agile, tech-enabled and data–led approach to deliver better regulation, in an ever more complex global food system and where over 95% of the department’s work is driven by legislation and regulation originating in Europe.
The Director of Policy will lead the continuing development of a modern policy function across the Food Standards Agency, working closely with the Board and external stakeholders and be responsible for effective strategic policy and risk management based on science and other evidence.
And as part of the senior team you will play a critical role in helping to take us from our current blueprint and pilots, to full delivery across all areas of regulation and all parts of the department. You will help shape the organisation’s future role and build our capacity to anticipate and respond to regulatory requirements in new trading relationships as we rebalance priorities, capability and resources.
So, if you are the kind of person who combines thought leadership and innovation in policy development with actually making things happen at the sharp end, if you are ambitious to see the FSA recognised as an excellent modern regulator, then please apply.
Closing date: 23:59 Sunday 25 November 2018.
