National Account Manager – A No Nonsense Job Description!

 

Who are we?

Duerr’s is the oldest family-owned jam maker in England. Based in Manchester, in the glorious North West, we’ve been making quality preserves to our family recipes for 137 years, so we think we are getting quite good at it now! We have two factories in Wythenshawe and currently employ around 300 people, making jam, marmalade, peanut butter, honey, condiments and lots more besides. We are a fast-growing business that has a wide and diverse range of customers and we are now looking for an energetic National Account Manager to join our Sales and Marketing team.

What do we want you to do?

Working within the Sales and Marketing team, you will be responsible for managing and developing sustainable customer relationships within your accounts.  Our brands include Duerr’s, Hi-Pro and Peamutt Butter however our brand portfolio is growing, and we are looking for someone to represent us in the new, exciting and fast growing category of healthy snacks.

What do we REALLY want you to do?

We want you to use your skills and abilities to help us grow our customer base and sales. We are seeking energy, passion, involvement and brain power to help us grow our exciting business.

We need you to successfully manage the day to day sales operation & administration of your customers, under the guidance and direction of the Sales and Marketing Director. This is likely to involve the development of Joint Business Plans and effective promotional programs.

Who will you work for?

Richard Duerr. Richard is our Sales and Marketing Director, has been with us for over 30 years and is a member of the Duerr’s family. Richard is straight talking, action focused and gets involved.

Who will work for you?

You will be a member of the Sales and Marketing team, at present there are no direct reports in this role.

What is important to us?

We are a fast-growing company; however, we recognise that our own brands aren’t growing as fast as we want them to. We want to increase our control on our own future by nurturing and growing our brands. We want to increase our brands turnover from c. 15% of our turnover to 25%+. We want to understand our customers’ needs and be the best partner to deliver them.

What will we measure?

We will agree with you targets for sales, profit, retail distribution and trade spend. In addition, we will work with you on your own personal development areas.

What we would need you to understand?

Our brands, our competitors, our customers and consumers. How do we deliver products and plans that meet their category needs?

Where would you work?

We are based in Wythenshawe, Manchester. The role is office based though there will be UK based travel involved.

How many hours per week?

40 hours per week.
