Being a key role for this company, the National Account Manager will be expected to take on the role of maintaining the biggest clients for this company. It is a clear opportunity to step up to build, lead and define the grocery strategy for the company. With full P&L responsibility across these accounts also, you will be tasked with providing the financial reports for these accounts in order to fulfil your duties as a National Account Manager. Coinciding with this, you will be a direct report for a Sales Executive and 2 interns, so it is a role that will exercise leadership qualities.
Additionally, you will be required to work across various teams in order to make sure the company is fulfilling its potential across all platforms. Working with the marketing team to develop the strongest customer plan possible, as well as working with the category insights team to lead category recommendations in order to make sure each range is deemed effective.
What you need to possess
You will need to be an ambitious and progressive person who has aspirations to succeed in whatever they do. Being someone who can easily become a brand advocate is important as it runs deep in this company’s ethos. Alongside this, it is preferable that you have had experience with dealing with the Top 4 Grocery accounts in Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrison’s and Waitrose. This is imperative due to importance of the role and you will be a large part of the grocery channel for the company.
Moreover, it is important for you to have a real passion for selling and negotiating. This will be a key part of your role and to execute this properly you will need to have a strategical mind-set when tackling all tasks that you may face. Keeping track of all market performance and competitor activity will be crucial as it is important to know what is going on in the industry – so being well versed in the health food and drink market would be preferable also.
