This is a key role that is integral to the day-to-day running of the business and its ability to grow. The main focus will be planning, forecasting and problem solving. It will ultimately suit a candidate with ambitions to take on Account Management responsibilities as they develop in the role.
About the Company:
Our client is a privately owned UK based food business specialised in sourcing, developing, and producing unique, top-quality, added value, prepared foods from the Far East.
They have offices in London and an established factory in situ.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager and working closely with them, your other main points of contact will include the Logistics Manager and as the role develops, Supply Chain Planners and Forecast Planners at our client's main customer in a major high street food retailer.
You will have day-to-day involvement in the management of our client's large account and regular face to face customer contact/relationship management.
In time you will be able to develop your own areas of responsibility - either a small customer or distinct areas of responsibility as the business needs dictate.
Your specific accountabilities will be to:
Maintain and improve our client's long term forecasting system.
Use this to provide guidance to the Factory team and logistics partners to ensure perfect planning.
Undertake sales capture and analysis using IRI Worldwide Unify database (specific training available, but must understand POS data).
Provide insight which will guide product development direction and commercial opportunity in the markets our client trade.
Find new ways of working with suppliers to improve service and control cost - e.g. Sleeve Printers
Support the wider team in customer meetings with insightful presentations.
Plan the peak sales periods.
Be a problem solver.
You must have in-depth knowledge of the food retail industry and their supply chains. Ideally within the Chilled/Frozen sectors.
You must have a good track record, gained within or supplying a major retailer. Some exposure to the food service industry would also be an asset.
If you are someone with a planning / category background that wants to work towards account management you would be ideally suited to this role.
You must be able to demonstrate the following:
Knowledge of the food industry and the cost elements which affect the value of food.
Strong analytical skills, and the ability to data mine EPOS data to help support sales opportunities for the business. e.g. Dumbumby/Kantar World Panel/IRI Worldwide.
Confidence in delivering presentations and producing written reports which may form the basis of communication to customers or internal Directors: presenting solutions and influencing others.
The ability and confidence to make changes and improvements within the business.
Be highly organised and structured, but also able to work flexibly within the team (UK and Far East).
Have a positive attitude and outlook.
